2nd Shift Machine Operator Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our 2nd shift team at our facility located in Waukesha, WI. As a Machine Operator, you will have the opportunity to flex between working with both a laser and a brake press machine. This position is responsible for bending/fabricating parts according to specifications, and plays a critical role in ensuring that our parts are created in both an efficient and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow production schedule to appropriately program the laser to produce adequate product to fulfill production needs in a timely manner
  • Setup and operate high speed laser cutting machine by loading and unloading materials as required.
  • Setup and nest programs.
  • Movement of raw material – including the potential to drive a fork lift.
  • Check and inspect raw material to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Material movement to and from machine.
  • Install and secure punches and dies.
  • Adjust ram stroke and back gauging to properly form parts.
  • Inspect parts using measuring tools as appropriate.
  • Confirm that all safety procedures and practices are followed and fill out time study forms nightly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year experience with programming, setup, and operation of a production laser and/or brake press (or machine operation equivalent)
  • One year experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Forklift certification, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee will regularly be working inside the manufacturing plant and is required to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time.This position will also stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work, which will require periods of sitting, ability to adjust vision and focus.
